Three Arrests at Santa Maria DUI Checkpoints

Last week, two DUI checkpoints were conducted by the Santa Maria Police Department, in partnership with the Santa Maria Office of the California Highway Patrol. Three arrests were made during these checkpoints that lasted from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night to 3:00 a.m. early Sunday morning.

According to the Santa Maria Times, at least one of the drivers arrested had a young child in the car. That driver was also charged with felony endangerment of a child. Additionally, nine people were cited for unlicensed driving. Officers screened 715 of the 955 drivers that went through the two checkpoints that evening. These checkpoints were paid for by a federal grant to help save lives in California.
