Truck Runs Off Highway 101 in Atascadero

Early Thursday morning, a large truck pulling a live-bottom trailer swerved off the road and down an embankment near Santa Barbara Road along Highway 101 in Atascadero. The truck was traveling southbound when it went through the shoulder guard rail and toppled down the embankment, off the highway. According to the CHP, as reported by The Atascadero News, the driver of the truck had fallen asleep at the wheel. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Heavy traffic was reported during the morning hours along Highway 101 as heavy-duty tow trucks worked to pull the fallen truck and trailer up and back on to the road.
