Two people were walking in Balboa Park when they were abruptly struck by a vehicle. The man and the woman were confirmed to be walking on Pan American Plaza Road between the Organ Pavilion and the International Cottages at 5:30 p.m. at the time of the accident, NBC News. The driver was confirmed to be 77 years of age and struck the pedestrians in his 2009 Toyota Highlander. The woman is confirmed to be in critical condition, and the male suffers from potential brain injury.
