A six-foot wall collapsed in El Cajon and killed a construction worker on Monday. Tragically, this man was a 51-year-old husband and father and he had worked for the construction company for about 30 years. NBC San Diego reported, “Fernando Martinez, 51, was digging a trench with another worker at the site of a new car dealership when, shortly after 12 p.m., the wall – estimated to weigh between 5,000 and 6,000 pounds – collapsed onto the pair.” The other construction worker was able to escape the falling wall and is not suffering life-threatening injuries. Rescuers were not able to save Fernando in time. This incident opened an OSHA investigation. The team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers send our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Fernando Martinez.
