Worker Injured by Falling Crane

On Wednesday, a worker was injured after a crane collapsed in South Park. According to NBC San Diego News Channel Seven, the crane collapsed at around 1:00 a.m. and fell into the southbound lanes of State Route 15 near State Route 94. Apparently, the worker was moving large concrete blocks as part of a Caltrans project at the time of the incident.

The crane trapped the worker, but there’s no word on the extent of injuries involved. Thankfully, his injuries were initially described as non-life-threatening. Portions of the roadway were closed until about 5:00 a.m. No details have been released on how or why the crane tipped over. We do know that Western Rim Construction, based out of Escondido, employs the worker, and the crane is owned by Bob’s Crane Service in Lakeside.
