Wrong Way Crash on Bridge in El Cajon

Earlier this week, a vehicle headed the wrong way on Interstate 8 hit a guardrail and ended up dangling from a bridge in El Cajon. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened at about 2:00 a.m. on Monday morning. Initial reports indicate that the vehicle was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes, near State Route 67 prior to crashing into the center divider and guardrails.

When first responders arrived on the scene, the vehicle was dangling from the bridge above 2nd Street. Debris was falling on the roadway below, and some of it even struck a passing vehicle. The wrong-way driver had to be extricated from the wreckage. That person was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
