Early Monday morning, a wrong-way driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on Interstate 5. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened in the northbound lanes, near Hawthorn Street, sometime around 3:30 a.m. Very few details about this crash have been released, but we do know that a BMW was headed south in the northbound lanes. Initial reports indicate that two vehicles were hit.

At least two people were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Thankfully, those injuries were not considered life-threatening on the scene. The wrong-way driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, and a portion of the roadway had to be closed for nearly an hour as crews worked the scene.
