Over the weekend, a man was critically injured in a crash near Vandenberg Village. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened on Highway 1, just south of the Constellation Road off ramp, at about 9:00 a.m. A person who was collecting litter reportedly found the crashed vehicle about 50 feet below the roadway. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle but was severely injured.
When first responders arrived on the scene, they got the injured person up to the roadway in a Stokes basket. He was then rushed to Lompoc Airport and airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. There has been no word on that person’s current condition, or the full extent of injuries involved. Additionally, no information has been released on the cause of the crash, which could still be under investigation.
