On Monday night, a man died after his silver sedan crashed into the backyard of a Mission Hills home. The crash took place around 11:00 pm on the 10000 block of N. Burnet Avenue, according to NBC Los Angeles. The car flew off the 118 Freeway, went down an embankment, and smashed through a wooden fence before landing in the backyard. No one was in the backyard at the time. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Video footage showed the mangled sedan resting on the grass next to a swing set. Residents in the immediate area are advocating for stronger security to keep them safe from future crashes; at the moment, only a mound of dirt and a fence separates their homes from the freeway. At the time of the report, it was unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
