Earlier this week, one man was killed and a deputy was injured in a traffic incident in a South El Monte parking lot. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the incident started at about 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday night on the 9600 block of Garvey Avenue. For currently unknown reasons, a man and a woman were fighting in a shopping center parking lot.
Deputies arrived on the scene and detained the man. The woman appeared to drive away, but then made a U-turn and drove towards the deputies and the man involved in the altercation. The woman’s vehicle hit the patrol car, the man involved in the fight and a deputy. The man involved in the altercation was pronounced dead on the scene, and the deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
