On Wednesday night in El Monte, a man died after crashing off a roadway and into a concrete structure in the Rio Hondo Watershed channel. The incident occurred around midnight near the eastbound 10 Freeway at Santa Anita Avenue, according to KTLA. The vehicle was traveling near the bus station on Santa Anita when it flew off the road and landed upside down on a raised support structure in the Rio Hondo wash.   

The victim was thrown from the vehicle and located on the ground below by Los Angeles County firefighters. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Responders also searched the wash for any other potential victims. At the time of the report, it was unclear if speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
