Earlier this week, there was a fatal semi truck crash in Alpine. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened on Interstate Eight on Monday night. Initial reports indicate that a fully loaded car carrier was headed east in the slow lane when, for currently unknown reasons, another tractor-trailer crashed into the back of it and burst into flames.

First responders rushed to the scene. The driver of the second truck was killed in the crash. No other injuries were reported. A portion of eastbound I-8 was closed as crews and first responders worked the scene. At the time of the report, there was no word on why the second truck crashed into the auto carrier, and this fatal truck crash is likely still under investigation with law enforcement officials.
