Earlier this week, there was a fatal crash involving a pickup truck and a semi truck in Del Mar. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened on the southbound side of Interstate 5, near Del Mar Heights Road, at about 4:16 a.m. Initial reports indicate that a Toyota pickup truck hit the back of a semi truck that was parked on the shoulder.  

The pickup truck got wedged under the back of the tractor trailer. First responders spent an hour trying to rescue the trapped driver, but they were unable to get that person out alive. No information has been released on the cause of this fatal crash, which is likely still under investigation with local law enforcement officials.
