Over the weekend, there was a fatal head-on collision in San Diego. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened on State Route 78, just west of Weekend Villa Road at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Initial reports indicate that a vehicle was headed eastbound on State Route 78, when it crossed into oncoming traffic. That vehicle struck a Ford Edge SUV head on. The SUV ended up rolling off of the roadway.  

The only occupant in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The wrong-way driver fled the area on foot. Law enforcement officers were able to capture that man at his residence. He is currently facing charges including driving under the influence, hit and run and vehicular manslaughter. This fatal head-on collision is likely still under investigation.
