Earlier this week, there was a fatal head-on collision on State Route 76 in the Pala area. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened near Pala Mission Road, near the Pala Casino, on Wednesday. Initial reports indicate that two people were killed in the crash, and a driver involved was arrested on the scene. Apparently, a Maroon Nissan Xterra was headed eastbound on SR-76, when it crossed onto the westbound side of the roadway. It struck a white Toyota RAV4 head on.

The driver and a passenger inside of the RAV4 were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Xterra was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, and he was subsequently arrested and charged with felony driving under the influence among other related charges.
