On Sunday morning, a man was killed in a rollover crash on State Route 163 southbound, north of Friars Road. The incident took place around 4:00 am when the driver of a Nissan Maxima veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to Fox 5 San Diego. The Nissan overturned from the force of the crash, ejecting the driver from the car. The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  

All traffic lanes of SR-163 southbound, north of Friars Road were shut down during the investigation. At the time of the report, it was unknown if driving under the influence played a role in the crash.
