Earlier this week, a woman and eight of her children were injured in a car crash that was possibly caused by a street race. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the wreck happened on Monday afternoon on Interstate Eight, just west of Lake Murray Boulevard. Initial reports indicate that a Mazda sedan struck the family’s van, and caused it to roll up an embankment and back down again.

The children in the vehicle were ranging in ages from seven months to 16 years old. A 10-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle. She sustained a skull fracture, fractured pelvis, fractured clavicle and eye socket. She was rushed into the intensive care unit at a local hospital. At this time, authorities are looking into whether or not an illegal street race was going on when the wreck happened.
