On Sunday morning in Hawthorne, several people were hospitalized following a car pursuit that ended in a violent crash. According to CBS News, the incident began around 9:40 am at the 118th Street and Freeman Avenue intersection. Police had been dispatched after learning that three people suspected of an assault with a deadly weapon were inside a white Chevrolet Silverado. When officers located the suspect vehicle, one of the suspects exited the car and attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. The remaining occupants drove away at a high rate of speed, leading police on a brief chase through surrounding residential streets before the Chevrolet driver lost control and hit a building.  

The car suffered considerable damage as a result. Two male occupants removed themselves from the car while two females were removed by the fire department. One of the men and both females were taken to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries. At the time of the report, they were listed in stable condition.
