Earlier this month, a service dog was killed and his owner was injured by two loose pit bulls in a Koreatown neighborhood. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the incident happened on January 10, when Jasmine Amaya and her seven-pound service dog Keoki were attacked while taking a walk. Two pit bulls came through an open gate and went straight for little Keoki. The attack was caught on camera.

Amaya was knocked down trying to protect Keoki and was bitten several times before a man that lives in the house with the pit bulls was able to restrain them. In spite of rushing him to the vet, and an emergency surgery costing more than $20,000, Keoki did not survive his injuries. As of Wednesday, the dogs were finally removed from the neighborhood.
