On Wednesday morning, a violent car crash caused a power outage in Clovis. According to Your Central Valley, the incident occurred around 2:00 am near Sylmar and Barstow Avenues. A man driving an Alfa Romeo was traveling westbound on Barstow at a high rate of speed when he lost control, crashing into a fence and various light poles. As a result, multiple city blocks lost power and a major roadway was closed for much of the day for repairs.

The driver sustained critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Footage from the scene showed the totaled car upside down with all its wheels detached. At the time of the report, alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash.
