Woman Killed After Rock Smashes Through Windshield in Southern California
On Tuesday morning, a woman was killed after a rock was launched at her windshield on Highway 138. The incident happened around 12:10 am, east of Highway 18 in the Antelope Valley, according to KTLA. The woman and her boyfriend were driving home when he heard a popping sound and noticed the woman, who was in the driver’s seat, fall unconscious. After grabbing the steering wheel to stop the car, the boyfriend then observed a hole in their windshield. A suspect had thrown a rock toward the car’s windshield which had gone through the glass, instantly killing the woman.
It was unclear whether the rock came from a passing vehicle or from someone on the side of the road. Two days earlier in the same area, another driver also reported being struck by a rock thrown through their windshield. At the time of the report, the CHP Southern Division Major Crimes Unit and the CHP Antelope Valley Area were investigating these incidents.
