On Saturday night, a man was killed following a violent car crash in Burbank. The incident took place around 11:15 pm near the Hollywood Way and Vanowen Street intersection, according to KTLA. A white Scion and a Toyota Corolla were both traveling east on Vanowen Street at high rates of speed when they collided near Hollywood Way. The vehicles struck a utility pole before hitting a fire hydrant, causing the pole to fall and water to shoot from the hydrant.

The Scion driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota driver suffered moderate injuries and was treated at the crash site by paramedics. At the time of the report, officers believed that speed was a factor in the crash. It was unknown if drugs or alcohol also played a role.
